The Women’s Super League attendance record was broken as Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday.

It was the first time that Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal’s men’s team, had sold out for a women’s game.

The club announced that 60,160 tickets had been sold, beating the previous WSL record of 59,042 which came in Arsenal’s win over Chelsea at the Emirates on 10 December.

Arsenal’s usual home has been the 4,500-capacity Meadow Park.

However, the Gunners are staging six of their 11 home league matches during the 2023-24 campaign at the Emirates.

Earlier this year, Gunners manager Jonas Eidevall said it was a “realistic vision” for the women’s team to play all of their home matches at the 60,000-plus capacity stadium in the near future.
