WSL: Record numbers watch Chelsea's win over Liverpool on BBC

An average of 796,000 viewers watched Emma Hayes' side win 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with a peak audience of 955,000.

Defending champions Chelsea’s victory over Liverpool on the BBC recorded the highest average TV audience for a Women’s Super League match.

An average of 796,000 viewers watched Emma Hayes’ side win 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with a peak audience of 955,000.

There were a further 141,000 requests to watch the match on BBC iPlayer.

Bristol City face Manchester United on Sunday, 26 November in the BBC’s next WSL fixture.

The London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea will also be live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app on Sunday, 10 December.

The previous record average TV audience for a WSL match was Arsenal’s win over Aston Villa in October which had 766,000 tuning in, also on the BBC.
